Cold Steel - Norman Sword with Scabbard
Like their famous sword, the Normans' relentless thirst for battle and insatiable greed for land and riches undoubtedly trace back to their Viking ancestors, who, under the leadership of Rollo in the year 911 A.D. tore their future home in northwestern France, Normandy, from the hands of Charles the Simple (Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte). However, the Normans were never satisfied with their fate, so it did not take long before they once again took up their broad, double-edged swords and crossed the English Channel with set sails to conquer Britain; a military campaign, famously taking place in the year 1066 A.D. culminated in the Battle of Hastings
Cold Steel® now offers a combat-ready version of these famous swords. Like the thoroughly examined originals, this sword also features a long, wide blade with sharpened edges. To keep the weight to a minimum and ensure comfortable one-handed handling, Cold Steel® has equipped the center of the blade with a single wide, weight-saving fuller, which also provides more balance and gives the blade the necessary strength to withstand heavy blows.
With its downward curved guard with chiseled ends, leather-wrapped wooden handle, and three-lobed pommel, the hilt of the Cold Steel® Norman Sword also resembles various surviving originals. The knob shape was deliberately chosen: This knob provides more space for the hand, forms a good counterbalance to the blade, and can already serve as a striking weapon on its own
A leather-covered wooden scabbard with steel fittings is included in the delivery
