Cold Steel - Anderthalbhänder Bastard Sword - Man-at-Arms Series
This is the Man at Arms (MAA) version of Cold Steel's® original bastard sword (Item No. CST-88HNH).
The medieval man-at-arms (engl. man-at-arms) was a brave, loyal fighter full of martial heroism, mastering a variety of weapons with great skill. He was a veteran of countless battles, often the first to charge into combat, and although he was not a knight, he fought and trained side by side with them as a comrade-in-arms. In honor of these rugged, dedicated mercenaries, Cold Steel® has created the Man at Arms weapon collection. Compared to Cold Steel's® premium versions, these battle-ready weapons may lack the usual shiny blades and silver-polished steel elements, but in terms of quality and performance, the MAA series products come close to the other products. The fully sharpened, blued blades are characterized by their distinctive gun-metal appearance, which perfectly harmonizes with the black handles. And when properly oiled, they reveal their inherent, radiant beauty. The Man at Arms collection offers a selection of some of Cold Steel's® finest blades, but at a significantly lower price. If you have always wanted to own a Cold Steel® edged weapon but could never afford it, then this collection is made for you.
It would be a difficult task to find a more versatile or powerful sword than this offered hand-and-a-half sword (also called bastard sword). For a sword of this size, it is surprisingly light (approx. 1,4 kg) and fast. Its 85 cm long blade is quite broad and can thus cut deeply, yet it is sharp enough to perform thrust attacks effectively. Thanks to its long hilt, the sword can be wielded both one-handed and two-handed. To balance the long blade, the end of the grip is adorned with a beautiful pommel, which can itself serve as a striking weapon. In terms of craftsmanship and materials, each of these hand-and-a-half swords meets the highest quality standards. All blades are fully sharpened and combat-ready.
To safely house the blade, each sword comes with a very attractive leather scabbard with a blued steel throat and chape.
1055 Carbon Steel
The carbon content and the relatively low amounts of other substances in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness that is inherent in most higher-carbon steels. This steel is excellent for blades that need to have high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
