Description
Ulfberth - Pot Helm of the Riders of Kornburg Nuremberg L
Combat-ready
This large pot helmet is a replica of a late medieval funeral helmet of the family Rieter von Kornburg from the All Saints Church Kleinschwarzenlohe.
The Rieter family of Kornburg (=Ritter von Kornburg) was a patrician family that has been documented as residing in Nuremberg since 1361. The helmet is dated to approximately the same time, around. 1375, and was probably made by a Nuremberg metalworker. It is exhibited today at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (GNM) in Nuremberg
Our reconstruction is made of 1.6 mm thick sheet steel, handcrafted. The steel parts are connected with brass rivets, as well as the elaborate and ornate brass embellishments on the front. By the way, these are only painted on the original helmet
The helmet features a chain mail coif made of riveted spring steel (weave type BTW), a riveted, comfortable padded liner, and a chin strap made of cowhide leather with a brass buckle
