Sir Francis Drake, Vice Admiral (1596540 - 1596), was an English sea captain, privateer, navigator, slave trader, and politician of the Elizabethan era. Drake completed the second circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition, from 1580577 to 1580. Elizabeth I. Drake was knighted by England 1581. He was the second commander of the English fleet against the Spanish Armada in the year 1588. He died in January 1596 on the Ruhr after unsuccessfully attacking San Juan in Puerto Rico. His heroic deeds were legendary, making him a hero to the English, but a pirate to the Spaniards, who knew him as El Draque. King Philip II. is said to have a reward for his life
