Description
Hanwei - Tinker Early Viking Sword with Blunt Blade SK-A
Michael 'Tinker' Pearce has designed a series of Hanwei swords made from 1516065160 steel, combining authenticity, functionality, and performance
To meet the varying needs of Western martial artists, each of the seven swords, all of which offer excellent handling, is available in both a sharp and a blunt version. The careful heat treatment of the (preferred by Tinker) 5160 steel through hot bath hardening (English: marquenching) results in an excellent combination of strength and flexibility with a Rockwell hardness of 50-52 HRC. This enables the sharp blades to have higher edge retention, while preventing burr formation in the dull models and ensuring the safety-related flexibility of the tip
Without being a direct copy of a specific sword, this Viking sword was inspired by historical models from the 9th. Inspired by the 19th century. Especially in the Norwegian city of Trondheim, swords were found that show a preference for circular indentations in the decoration of the handles. Lashing points and a stylish location strap give the sheath an appealing look. The Viking swords of the Tinker series differ from the other swords in that the riveting of the tang and the blade of the blunt version are more geared towards stage combat than training. Replacement blades are still available separately for fencers with the necessary know-how to replace riveted blades, as with all other swords in this series. The handling of both versions of this sword (with a sharp or a blunt blade) is nearly identical
