Description
Hanwei - Gustav II. Rapier
King Gustav II. Adolf (1616321611594-1616321611) was king of Sweden from 1611 to 1616321611. As a defensive measure, he intervened in the Thirty Years' War. One feared the threat to Sweden's state and church posed by the superior forces of Albrecht W.E. by Wallenstein, which made the situation of the German Protestants seem almost hopeless at that time. As an outstanding tactician, Gustav led a first-class army, and his position was further strengthened by alliances with France, Brandenburg, and Saxony. So it came to a costly battle against Wallenstein's army in Lützen, which the Swedes ultimately won, but in which Gustav was fatally wounded. The Hanwei "Gustav Rapier" -> "Gustav Rapier" is a replica of the weapon of this great king.
The guard of this rapier is unusual, but highly effective. The rapier features classic lines. The blade is made of flexibly hardened carbon steel. For low maintenance, the handle is made of stainless steel. The special guard can be used as a Blattfänger ("Blattfänger) serve, and the handle is wrapped with twisted wire. Since the vessel was made in exactly the same size as the original template, it offers an authentic feel and also matches its prototype in terms of weight and balance. The blade can be exchanged for the blunt Hanwei training blade (item no. OH2255) can be replaced with one designed for safe sparring with the rapier. A suitable left-handed dagger is also available (item no. SH2209) and can also be equipped with a sparring blade.
