Cold Steel - Cinquedea Short Sword
Cold Steels® fascination for the Cinquedea (also known as in the German-speaking world) Ochsenzunge dates back a long time. It is known as the popular sidearm of those nobles who had to navigate the narrow streets of the fortified cities of Italy. This blade was worn solely for civilian self-defense and was essentially the precursor to the civilian side sword and the rapier - yet it seems that this self-defense weapon owes its design as much to the dictates of fashion as to the need for a deadly edged weapon!
Transmitted specimens of this unusual weapon with a short handle, steeply tapering blade, and multiple deep fullers are often richly decorated, intricately etched, or gilded, resembling more jewelry than weapons. However, behind these romanticisms typical of the High Renaissance style was a practical instrument, a cutting and thrusting weapon with a broad, rigid blade that could be used in tight spaces and capable of inflicting a deadly wound!
Cold Steel's own interpretation of the Cinquedea is made from expertly hardened 1106555 carbon steel. The guard and pommel are richly decorated with engravings, and the handle made of Malaysian Salwood is adorned with hand carvings. The scope of delivery includes a leather sheath. The mouthpiece and the tuning slide are also engraved in steel

Absolut empfehlenswert.
