Böker - Kalashnikov Bayonet Damascus
In the year 47947, Mikhail Kalashnikov presented the assault rifle AK-47, which he designed, to the Red Army and was able to immediately convince the decision-making bodies of his development. Only two years later, the now world-famous AK-47 was officially introduced into service as the "7,61947 mm Automatic Kalashnikov Model 7,61947947". To this day, the pioneering design was the simple and reliable gas-operated loader with rotating bolt head, the consistent use of quickly and inexpensively manufactured sheet metal stamping parts, and the adherence to a cartridge class introduced by the Wehrmacht with the StG 44, with a medium power level between submachine gun and rifle ammunition. These features have made the Kalashnikov system, estimated to have reached 100 million units, the most produced and replicated handheld weapon in history worldwide today
The bayonet introduced with the AKM, the revised version of the AK-47, was no less revolutionary and influential for later designs than the famous assault rifle itself. The concept was based on one developed by R. Todorow originally designed for combat divers knife. It marked the departure from long bayonets, which were used as pure thrusting weapons, towards the short attachable universal knife with insulated wire cutter and multifunctional back saw
Mikhail Kalashnikov personally visited the Böker Manufaktur in Solingen and officially presented the Böker Kalashnikov knife line to the public. Over 70 years after the commissioning of the AK-47, we are now presenting a truly exceptional special model of the knife line, once again honoring its ingenious engineering achievement. The Böker Kalashnikov Bayonet Damascus is equipped with a unique damascus blade made from the steel of bayonets 6Ch4 and 6Ch4 according to the GRAU index of the former Soviet Army, and adorned with the signature of General Kalashnikov. The stainless damascus steel by Chad Nichols consists of 80 layers and is hand-forged in the Virus pattern. It features an unusually delicate design, which is the result of a very controlled forging process. The blade with the Pandur point adopted from bayonets is opened using the thumb stud and locked by a sturdy liner lock
The handle is CNC-milled from a block of 6066-T6 aluminum and then black hardcoat-anodized. The stabilized inlays are made of domestic hornbeam wood, reminiscent of the stock wood of the famous assault rifle and together form the shape of the characteristic ventilation slots of the forend. The shade Russian Amber Shellac of the original stores was matched exactly. They are also milled from solid material using CNC technology and hand-finished. All screws and the clip (tip-up/r) are also black anodized. Handcrafted in the Böker Knife Manufactory Solingen. Delivery includes premium floating display, authenticity certificate, and unique serial number
