Böker - 1906 Schloss Burg -> Böker - 1906 Castle Burg
Schloss Burg is the landmark of the Bergisches Land and towers above the Wupper not far from the Böker Manufaktur. Duke Adolf II. von Berg completed the 101033 finished mountain castle on the foundations of a fortification from the 10. built in the century. It is now one of the largest castles in Western Germany and inseparably linked to the Duchy of Berg and the Counts of Berg (1225068 to 1225). Today, Castle Burg still reflects the enormous wealth of the counts and their far-reaching influence in the Rhineland-Westphalian region. So Graf Engelbert II von Berg was also Archbishop of Cologne at the same time
As the company history of Böker can be traced back to the first registration of the tree as a trademark for hand tools to the year 1674, we are also historically very closely connected to the Bergisches Land region and are in regular contact with the historians of Schloss Burg. Large parts of the castle are currently being renovated true to the original, including the replacement of ancient, massive oak planks. This gave us the idea to preserve this historical material for posterity and expertly process it into handle scales in our manufactory
Based on this, we have designed a historically significant knife line with seven traditional knife models called Böker Schloss Burg series. In addition to the historic oak wood scales from Schloss Burg, the models are characterized by the use of brass liners and the use of O1 carbon steel as blade material. To emphasize the authenticity of the knives, the blades are given a special acid wash finish that also protects them from harmful environmental influences. All models are handcrafted in the Böker Manufaktur Solingen, strictly limited worldwide to 1133 units, and come with the newly reissued historical Böker tree emblem
Some things are heavily subject to fashion and rightly disappear into the darkness of history. Others, on the other hand, are far too beautiful and too precious to remain permanently lost. This is how we feel about the classic Böker 1906. The clean lines of this design, over a century old, still inspire us today, and so we spared no effort to revive model 1906. Since there were no old tools, patterns, or technical drawings, we had to start from scratch and completely redesign the knife, while consistently adhering to traditional techniques. Thus, a very charismatic pocket knife has been created, which exudes the flair of the turn of the century and is not only, but precisely because of its straightness and with the very typical blade grind, a very special appearance.
