Description
Battle Merchant - Small Viking Sax in Borre Style 9th - 10th Century.
This small utility knife from the Viking Age, which is also known for its special blade shape, gebrochener Rücken Sax, as it is called, has a short, hand-forged blade made of carbon steel with a strong back. The polished, impressive bone handle is adorned with beautiful Nordic engravings in the Borre style on both sides (approx. 850-950 AD) decorated and ends towards the blade with a brass ferrule. At the other end, the handle cap, also made of brass, features a practical steel eyelet with a brass ring for attaching a carrying strap or for easy removal of the knife from the sheath (strap not included).
The Viking Age seax comes with a sturdy, artistically decorated sheath made of vegetable-tanned leather with hand-embossed braided pattern. Reinforcement plates made of bone, brass rivets, and two brass hanging rings in the shape of coiled snakes beautifully complement the appearance of the sheath.
Although the knife is fully functional, the blade has been left blunt. If necessary, it would need to be sharpened for daily use. Please note, however, that this Viking knife is primarily intended for collectors or. designed as a decorative object. The blade tip is not rounded and not suitable for stage combat!
