Description
Battle Merchant - Katzbalger Sword Stage Combat SK-C
The Katzbalger is a short, one-handed Renaissance sword. This shortsword was the preferred melee weapon of the Landsknechts of the late 16th century. and 16. century. Particularly striking is the relatively short and wide blade, the S-shaped handguard, and the so-called fish tail pommel. For the special name, there are two possible explanations: Either it is derived from cat leather, which may have been used for the handle or as a sheath. But more likely is an origin in the word Catnip toy to search for, a synonym for scuffling and brawling. Katzbalger were often used by pikemen, archers, and crossbowmen as a last line of defense when the enemy had already closed in too much for ranged or pole weapons. The tip of our replica is rounded and the striking edge measures 2 mm. The sword is therefore suitable for light stage combat training and fencing exercises, but we cannot provide a breakage guarantee. The blade has a total of three fullers. Both the wooden handle and the steel knob and the forged handguard are very solidly crafted.
The delivery includes a wooden and leather sheath (the color of the leather may vary slightly from item to item)
