Fox Knives - Perlage

The tradition of opening a champagne bottle with a saber originated in the Napoleonic era. The sabrage with the Briquet saber was initiated by the commander himself after a victorious battle. This unique custom has been preserved not only in France but also in other parts of the world. It adds a special highlight to any festive occasion. When done correctly, it usually works without any problems. After removing the wire cage from the cork, the blade of the saber is struck with a gentle motion along the neck of the bottle towards the thickened part below the bottle head. This causes the bottle head to pop off with a bang, and the champagne flows out. The severed bottle head with the cork is then inscribed with the date and serves as a memento of the celebration or as a talisman. The particularly high-quality champagne saber from Fox is authentically manufactured in the renowned cutlery factory in Maniago, Italy. The blade is made of stainless T5MoV steel and is adorned with the inscription Perlage (French for the formation of bubbles in sparkling wines). The handle, made of nickel-plated iron, is elaborately designed with loving decorations on the guard and pommel, adding the necessary sparkle.
