Cold Steel - Oyabun
For years, Cold Steel® has been contemplating creating a folding knife inspired by the famous Cold Steel® Tanto knife. Andrew Demko took on the challenge and, with Lynn Thompson's input, was able to find a suitable solution. The result is the Oyabun offered here!
The blade features a reinforced tip, is satin-finished, has been expertly hardened (Rc57 and cryogenic treatment), and boasts the kind of breathtakingly sharp edge on which Cold Steel®'s reputation was built. It is also equipped with an integrated flipper that ensures effortless opening, and can be securely locked in place thanks to a (patent-pending) leaf spring locking system with additional safety. The locking mechanism of the Oyabun was first introduced in Cold Steel® Crawford 1 pocket knife and has proven to be quite durable and reliable.
The blade made of stainless steel 4034 is housed in a sturdy yet cost-effective handle reinforced with stainless steel liners. The handle scales are made of a injection molded Griv-Ex™ core, wrapped with a outer layer of soft, textured Kray-Ex™, and are attached to the frame with two sturdy screws.
