The Hundsgugel is a variation of the late medieval bascinet helmet. Until about 1420, the Hundsgugel was the preferred helmet shape among noble knights and warriors. The characteristic design of the visor gave this helmet its name Hundsgugel (=dog hood/dog head) and led to its widespread popularity across Central Europe

Our reproduction is based on one from Milan around. 1390 n. Chrome. crafted helmet. This helmet is part of the armor from Churburg, Tyrol. The helmet is made of 2mm thick sheet steel, hand-hammered, riveted and welded, ensuring great protection in combat due to its robustness
The helmet has an upward folding visor, which is also completely removable by means of the pins attached to chains. Additionally, the helmet features a comfortable, padded fabric lining

The brass rivets attached on the sides are used to attach a chain tunic for chest and shoulders. We offer these chain tunics in various mesh patterns, which can be found in the category "Chainmail" in our shop
