The trick to sharpening a cutting tool lies in removing the steel at the edge while maintaining a consistent angle between the blade and the stone. The Tri-Angle Sharpmaker by Spyderco takes the mystery out of this process and allows anyone to effectively sharpen a knife with just a few minutes of practice. The durable ABS plastic base features coded holes that precisely set the sharpening angle of the stones to 200° (15° per side) or 40° (20° per side) for sharpening knives.

Simply hold the blade of your knife perpendicular and draw the edge along each stone to sharpen it. That's how simple it is. For serrated blades, use the rounded edges of the stones and a slightly looser grip so that the stone can flow into the indentations of each serration. The Tri-Angle Sharpening System includes two sets of ceramic stones with high aluminum oxide content: a pair of medium-sized (brown) stones for aggressive sharpening and a set of fine (white) stones for professional finishing. A set of brass safety rods protects your hands while sharpening, and all components snap into the self-contained ABS plastic base and lid for easy storage.
