SPQR - Viking Long Sax made of Birka Carbon Steel
This Viking Age knife with a sharp blade made of carbon steel is based on finds from Björkö/Birka (grave 944), Sweden. The wooden and bone handle has an oval cross-section, ensuring a secure grip. The brass handle cap is equipped with a practical lanyard loop (leather strap included). The bone handle is adorned with elaborate, authentic details. Since the knife is completely handmade, these decorations may vary slightly from one piece to another. Please also note that bones are a natural product and variations in color and/or grain are quite common. Therefore, with this Birka-Sax, no handle is like the other, and the above illustrations are for exemplary purposes only.
The beautiful sheath is made of vegetable-tanned, hand-dyed leather and adorned with authentic brass fittings. Thanks to three leather loops attached to brass rings, the knife can be carried horizontally on the belt in typical Viking style. The stylized details of the scabbard were also inspired by original finds from Birka.
The blade is sharp and fully functional. Therefore, this Skramasax is not suitable for stage combat and is only intended as a collector's item. Designed decoration object!
