Let the pan or pot cool down, soak in warm water, and finally remove burnt food with the scraper. You don't need dish soap, of course. Rinse thoroughly again after cleaning. Before putting away your cast iron cookware back in the cupboard, always make sure to dry it well and maintain it as usual.
