Hanwei - Side Sword for Stage Combat
The side sword (from the Italian) Side sword (176./17" literally translated) was a military sword of the Renaissance. The Paul Chen Side Sword (sharp version, item no. SH2203) is modeled after a German template and has excellent balance properties, with a guard that provides excellent hand protection. The presented sparring sword by Paul Chen features the same handle as the sharpened version, but comes with a sparring blade safe for combat.
Sparring with the side sword, whether in sword/buckler or sword/dagger combination, is gaining popularity among the various Renaissance reenactment groups.
