Safety rules:

1. Never aim for something you don't want to hit!
   
2. Keep your index finger outside the trigger guard until the crossbow is aimed at the target!
3. Be sure of your goal!
   - Only shoot at suitable targets!
   - Pay close attention to what is between you and the target, and what is behind the target!
   - Expect to miss the mark by far, but be focused enough to prevent it from happening!
4. Never place a finger you want to keep in the path of a cocked crossbow!
