Drop Forged Tomahawks
The high-quality Cold Steel® tomahawks are precision drop forged from carbon steel 1055. In the manufacture of striking tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many clear advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/matrices) connected to massive forging hammers, the steel is gradually shaped into a fully homogeneous mass and impact pressed to achieve a uniform grain flow and minimize the formation of defects. All Cold Steel® tomahawks are also differentially hardened: The edge and the hammer face are fully hardened to be sharpened, while the rest of the head is kept softer to absorb shock and impact.

Spike Hawk, Flat Textured Finish
Cold Steel's® Spike Hawk features a drop-forged and differentially hardened blade and a sturdy steel spike. This unusual axe is very popular among sport throwers, as it can penetrate wooden targets deeply with both the blade and the spike, thus doubling the chances of making a successful throw! A handcrafted leather sheath, in which the spike and the blade can be securely stored, is available separately.
