Cold Steel - Rifleman's Knife 1849 with Sheath
For a long time, Cold Steel® has admired the timeless, beautiful appearance and the simple, functional design of the U.S. so-called Rifleman's Knife. This rare knife was issued only in strictly limited quantities and was the very first knife officially commissioned and acquired by the U.S. Army in the year 1849.
The model presented here is inspired by a historical piece from the private collection of Cold Steel® President Lynn C. Thompson, and although it is not an exact replica, Cold Steel has incorporated many of the design nuances that made the original a classic!
Its impressive, robust spear-point blade is rigid enough to hold its own against much larger bladed weapons. Thus, it is an ideal secondary weapon to a saber or cutlass. Additionally, with its stately, approximately 30 cm long blade and its sturdy guard, it can certainly function as a standalone weapon! It quickly becomes clear why it was chosen by the U.S. Army as a secondary weapon for their Riflemen back then!
Cold Steels® Rifleman's Knife by 1849 is hand-forged from 1085 carbon steel and features a solid brass handguard. The beautiful handle scales, which fully enclose the sturdy full tang, are made from Malaysian Sal wood. The delivery includes a hand-stitched sheath made of high-quality leather with a polished brass throat and tip, and an integrated belt loop. This knife is a perfect addition to any reenactor's or collector's collection. So don't wait any longer and get yours today!
