Cold Steel - Leatherneck-SF Combat Knife D2 2017er Model

The word Leatherneck (= Ledernacken) has been synonymous with the renowned U.S. Marines since 1776, when the United States Congress mandated that all Marines wear a thick, high leather collar (commonly known at the time as a stock). This collar was intended to serve two purposes: firstly, to protect the neck from boarding saber and sword strikes, and secondly, to force the soldier to keep his head upright, thereby displaying the established military posture of the time.

Cold Steel® dedicates this series of robust, combat-ready fixed blades to you, featuring two different iconic blade types. Both are highly popular with the US armed forces:
- The Leatherneck®-SF (= Semper-Fidelis, Latin for Always Faithful) features a beautifully hand-polished clip point blade with a saber grind.
- The Leatherneck®-Tanto is equipped with Cold Steel's® own American Tanto blade, which features a strong, reinforced tip, making it even more durable.

Both blades are forged from D2 tool steel. D2 is a tough and durable air-hardening tool steel with high corrosion resistance. This steel has been used for decades by both industrial knife manufacturers and smaller knife smiths and hobby knife makers to produce robust knives - for example, for hunting and other outdoor activities.

The blades of the Leathernecks® receive their final touch with a matte black powder coating.

To prevent fingers from slipping forward and coming into contact with the sharp edge, the Leathernecks® are equipped with a premium handguard. The guard, made of solid steel, is slightly curved forward and offers excellent protection. During everyday tasks, the interference from the guard element remains minimal.

The particularly wide full tang is completely encased in a deeply textured Kray-Ex™ handle. Its oval, ergonomic cross-section and unique finger groove provide unmatched grip. The large pommel is made of machined steel (not a cheap cast or plastic part like many other models), and can therefore be used as a hammer in emergencies.

For safe and convenient carrying in all situations, each knife comes with a robust and versatile Secure-Ex® sheath in military style, including an ambidextrous, fully removable belt loop.
