Drop Forged Tomahawks
The high-quality Cold Steel® tomahawks are precision drop-forged from carbon steel 1055. When manufacturing striking tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many clear advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/matrices) connected to massive forging hammers, the steel is shaped step by step into a fully homogeneous mass and impact-pressed to achieve a uniform fiber structure and minimize the formation of defects. All Cold Steel® tomahawks are also differentially hardened: The edge and hammer face are fully hardened to be sharpened, while the rest of the head is kept softer to absorb shock and impact.
