Cold Steel - English Backsword
What a brave weapon is a short sharp light sword, to carry, to draw, to be nimble withal, to strike, to cut, to thrust both strong and quick - Paradoxes of Defense, George Silver, 1599.
With great pride, Cold Steel® expands its range with its own interpretation of an English Mortuary Sword with a basket hilt from the 17 century. This nimble one-handed sword is modeled after historical originals. It is fast, agile, and provides pure enjoyment during training. With this beautiful sword, quick, effective cuts from the wrist are possible. It is already very popular with the Cold Steel® team and has been declared one of their favorite one-handers by the staff.
The English Backsword is made from 1055 carbon steel and has been lightly patinated to create an antique finish. Each sword comes fully sharpened and is delivered with an intricately decorated scabbard made of leather and steel.
With this great piece, any HEMA martial artist or historical reenactor can enhance their collection.
1055 Carbon Steel
The carbon content and the relatively low amounts of other substances in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness inherent in most higher-carbon steels. This steel is excellent for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
