Description
Cold Steel - Black Bear Classic San Mai
This knife with iconic sub-hilt design was first developed by Bob Loveless, co-founder of the Knifemaker's Guild, and is possibly THE combat knife par excellence.
Its approximately 21 cm long blade offers excellent reach and incredible piercing power with minimal physical effort. The sub-hilt makes it virtually impossible for the hand to slip and come into contact with the blade. Additionally, this construction facilitates the quick retraction of the knife after a thrust. The impeccably heat-treated blade made of VG-10 San Mai® steel features a masterful 'Double Grind' (combination of hollow and flat grind) and has been polished to achieve a beautiful satin finish. The edges have been finely ground and also polished for maximum sharpness. The expertly hand-shaped, contoured handle scales made of black G-10 are attached to the tang with 6 stainless steel pins.
The San Mai® is a professionally crafted stainless three-layer steel. A hard carbon steel is enclosed between flexible low-carbon spring steel. This guarantees maximum edge retention with high resistance to lateral and impact stress. San Mai® is a globally registered trademark of Cold Steel®. This steel, produced only in extremely small quantities, is used exclusively for the most exclusive fixed collector blades by Cold Steel®.
