Cold Steel - 4-Max Pocket Knife
Although the original 4-Max (item no. 62RM or. 62RN) in every way met Cold Steel's® expectations, its production costs were quite high and unfortunately, the production and delivery lead times were too long to meet customer demand in a timely manner. The 4-Max Scout is easier to produce and represents a much more affordable alternative.
Like the original 4-Max, it features an extra-wide drop point blade with a stonewash finish. This is made of 5 mm thick AUS 10A steel, which is known for its durability, impact resistance, and edge retention. The profile of the handle remains unchanged, but instead of G-110, Griv-Ex™ was chosen for the handle scales, combined with stainless steel liners and a Griv-Ex™ backspacer.
The 4-Max Scout is equipped with Andrew Demko's groundbreaking Tri-Ad® locking mechanism. So it was able to withstand Cold Steel's® extremely demanding hardness and stress tests across the board, even supporting a freely hanging weight of just over 270 kg (600 lbs) without damage!
Stainless steel AISI 10A
In terms of strength and toughness, AUS 80A has the same qualities as AUS 8A. However, this steel offers the extraordinary advantage of 20% higher edge retention. This feature, being able to stay sharp for longer, gives it crucial performance advantages over other more common stainless steel grades
