Cold Steel - 3V Magnum Tanto XII CPM 3V Stonewash

For decades now, the Japanese San Mai® blades have been a staple of the Cold Steel® lineup. They are highly sought after by martial artists and knife collectors alike, and the demand is correspondingly high. However, these luxury fixed blades are produced each year in strictly limited quantities.

Therefore, Cold Steel® created the Nightfall series. The knives in this collection are crafted with the same quality standards and attention to detail as Cold Steel's® Japanese classics, with the difference that they are forged from premium American powdered steel CPM 3V instead of San Mai® steel.

These strong, reliable blades have been ground to an incredible sharpness. The handles are made of Kray-Ex™ and each knife comes with a Secure-Ex® sheath.

2020er model - The 3V Magnum Tanto XII with stonewash finish replaces the discontinued DLC-coated predecessor model CST-13QMBXII.

CPM 3V steel
This modern tool steel may be a bit more expensive, but it is remarkably tough and exceptionally wear-resistant. It is a fine-grained powder steel. With its very uniform microstructure, it offers top-notch impact resistance and great edge retention, even with very fine edges. It is a perfect steel for larger blades where extreme durability is required.
