Böker - Bronco Basic
Unsere Grundlage für maximales Abenteuer: Due to popular customer demand for a version without a fire starter, we have developed the Böker Bronco Basic
When designing our new fixed-blade outdoor knife Böker BRONCO, we set ourselves ambitious goals. It should be at the cutting edge of technological possibilities and offer optimal functionality in terms of modern needs. For this purpose, it should have the following features:
- Universal and optimal usability for all professional outdoor users such as: Bushcrafters, campcrafters, survivalists, long-distance hikers, hunters, SAR teams, and others.
- A blade made of CPM steel at the highest level of metallurgical possibilities
- A handle that is comfortable to hold even during long work sessions, completely enclosing the full tang and not conducting heat away from the hand in cold weather
- A high-quality leather sheath that can be worn with or without a dangler, providing sufficient protection against loss and damage for the knife
- 100% manufacturing at the Solingen/Germany location
- A moderate price considering the equipment
We were able to meet these ambitious requirements in the following way: The CPM-3V was developed by Crucible Industries LLC - the specialist and global market leader for powder metallurgy steels - to ensure an unprecedented shock load tolerance, fracture elasticity, and chip resistance while maintaining an incredible edge retention and hardness of 1±1 HRC. These properties of the powder metallurgical carbon steel were achieved, among other things, by a precisely adjusted chromium content of 7,5%. In this way, the positive properties of the alloy element Cr, such as increased wear resistance and hardenability, could be utilized while maintaining a fine structure.
The universally broad drop point blade with a high saber grind has always been the hunter's preferred shape for both large and small game, and is also suitable for delicate tasks like feather sticks as well as rough tasks like the obligatory batoning. The pommel is continuous and protrudes a few millimeters from the end of the handle. This ensures maximum stability and the blade can also withstand powerful blows with a round piece of wood or other object. A large part of the blade back forms sharp 90° edges on both sides for striking sparks with the help of an optionally available fire starter. The handle material chosen is TPE - thermoplastic elastomer - which completely encloses the shaft and is provided with a grippy structure in every direction of stress. TPE is resistant, elastic, non-slip, and has low thermal conductivity. So the knife is securely held in the hand in all weather and working conditions, and does not lose power from the fingers in wet and cold conditions. In addition to ordinary elastomers, TPE also has the advantage of being environmentally friendly in production, as it is purely physical and eliminates the lengthy and energy-intensive vulcanization of chemically crosslinked elastomers.
The equipment includes a leather sheath - the king discipline in sheath construction - with a deep and firm fit of the knife. The knife is thus best protected against loss and damage when carried, without requiring a vulnerable safety mechanism that hinders quick access. A detachable dangler allows for either a high carry position on the belt or a low position under the hip belt of the touring backpack. Therefore, the Böker BRONCO becomes the compact, versatile, and indispensable wilderness and survival tool that is capable of handling any situation. Handcrafted in the Böker Manufaktur Solingen
