Very beautiful reconstruction of a late medieval pot helmet (also Bucket helmet or Keg Helmet called), as shown in 14. worn in the century.
The so-called. Large helmet. grosser Helm or. "toller Helm" or grossartiger Helm) was often worn over a smaller, lighter helmet (e.g. worn under a skull cap). It was widespread in the Middle Ages throughout Central Europe, and numerous contemporary illustrations, miniatures, and finds from Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc. demonstrate the popularity of this type of helmet. These helmets originated during the time of the Crusades in the late 12th. / early 13. 1 pc. up to and including 14. 1 pc. common among the knights.
The replica offered here is made of 16,6 mm (16 gauge) carbon steel and is frontally adorned with a cross-shaped brass application. The individual parts of the knight's helmet are all connected to each other by steel rivets. The eye slits are each approx. 1,35 cm long, 1,3 cm wide, and the numerous cutouts on the lower half ensure the necessary air circulation.
The inside is blackened and equipped with a riveted, adjustable leather inlay. The chin strap made of brown, 2 mm thick leather is equipped with a brass buckle (with antique finish)
