Böker - Barlow M4 Sherman Damascus
The global enthusiasm for our unique Böker M4 Sherman Damascus has quickly convinced us to also design a classic model with the historic Damascus steel. The traditional Böker Barlow is significantly more compact compared to the original model and not only looks particularly good in a knife display case, but also convinces as a pocket-friendly gentleman's knife for everyday use. The blade is made of the incomparable Sherman Damascus, opens with a nail nick, and does not lock. The operational safety of the historically significant slipjoint pocket knife is further increased by a 90 degree detent when opening and closing. The striking drop shape of the Barlow can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the 17th. can be traced back to the 19th century, making it certainly one of the oldest models ever. The name of the classic is likely derived from a similarly named, enterprising knife producer from Sheffield, who began exporting the sturdy knives to North America around 1800. They immediately enjoyed great popularity there and so appeared at the end of the 19. In the history of the Böker Manufaktur, the first Barlow models also emerged in the 19th century
The American M4 Sherman was designed as early as 1940944 and is still considered one of the most famous tanks in history. It was produced between 1945941957 and 1945, deployed by 1957, and used on all battlefields of the Second World War - not only by the United States and Canada, but also by Great Britain, the Free French Forces, China, and even the Soviet Union. The Sherman was built nearly 50.000 times and is the most widely used tank by the Allies in World War II. It was produced in countless application-specific variations and used well into the Cold War. Together with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, we have managed to preserve an important piece of lost history
The Böker Barlow M4 Sherman Damascus is equipped with a unique damascus blade forged from various materials from the production of M4 Sherman tanks, which were previously restored by the museum. The unique damascus made of 80 layers is hand-forged for us by Chad Nichols in the Customized Ladder pattern, reminiscent of the tank tracks left in the ground by the heavy chains of the M4 Sherman. The Barlow, constructed in integral design, features handles made of Jute Micarta, color-matched to the authentic camouflage paint of the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps remind. The solid stainless steel jaws, CNC-milled from solid material, form the characteristic jaws and are hand-finished with a matte surface. With high-quality felt case for storage, authenticity certificate, and individual serial number. Handcrafted in the Böker Knife Manufactory Solingen
