Marto - Sword Excalibur with golden embellishments
Excalibur is the legendary sword of King Arthur, sometimes attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Great Britain. The sword has long been associated with the Arthurian legend. In Welsh, the sword is called "sword" Caledfwlch, in Cornish Calesvol, in Breton Kaledvoulch and in Latin Caliburnus.
The history and legend of King Arthur is closely connected to this magical and mysterious sword. As the wizard Merlin had proclaimed, only the one who was able to pull the sword from the stone would be king. Arthur knelt down before the stone, performed this act, took the sword, went with it into the cathedral, and offered it on the altar. He was anointed with the Holy Oil and solemnly swore in the presence of all barons and the common people to be a just king, defending truth and justice for all the days of his life. Legend and history intertwined over time, and King Arthur's legend, the Knights of the Round Table, and the magical sword Excalibur have become intertwined along this path
