Haller - Large Knife
A significant edged weapon around 1500 was the Great Knife. Back then, it was reserved for the nobility to wield a double-edged weapon. The single-edged bladed weapon was considered a knife rather than a sword. The defining features are the single-edged, saber-like blade and the shell-shaped attachment on the guard. Equally typical and unusual is the widening of the blade just before the tip. The blade shape of this edged weapon was inspired by Eastern European sabers and Turkish weapons. Some well-preserved pieces are kept at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna
The blade is forged from carbon steel. The forged flat tang blade is riveted with wooden handle scales
