Böker - 98k-Damast -> Böker - 98k Damascus
The eye-catching Böker 98k-Damast brings a significant piece of German military history to life. The globally renowned carbine 98k was introduced by the Wehrmacht as the standard service rifle and remained the most widely used handgun by German soldiers until the end of World War II. The repeating rifle was based on the Mauser System 98 locking system, which was already used with the rifle 98 as the standard weapon of the German Army in World War I
In response to the introduction of the first low-smoke ammunition in France, the German Army leadership had already commissioned the development of a new cartridge. This also included the tender for a new rifle. The Prussian rifle testing commission chose rifle 98 by the brothers Franz-Andreas and Peter-Paul Mauser, who were already known to the commission for the excellent design and craftsmanship of Model 71 from the black powder era. The weapon locking system, internationally known primarily as the Mauser system, was officially introduced into the Prussian Army in 1898. The key features were the wing safety with three safety positions, the generously sized non-rotating extractor with controlled cartridge feed, and the two vertically locking bolt lugs at the head of the chamber sleeve. Reliability, robustness, and ease of handling make this system the most built and replicated bolt action system in history to this day, and it continues to be manufactured worldwide for civilian purposes
The Böker 98k-Damast incorporates various design elements of the 98k bayonet and is also equipped with a unique damascus blade made from the barrel steel of the Mauser carbine. The remarkable damascus with 80 layers is hand-forged for us by Chad Nichols in the Ripple pattern. The unique blade with pronounced false edge is opened by nail nick and reliably locked by a sturdy backlock. The grips made of domestic walnut wood adopt the diagonally ribbed structure of the bayonet grips and provide a secure grip. In addition, a cross stitch for cleaning the shaft of the cleaning rod holder has been added under the steel cheek. Handcrafted in the Böker Knife Manufactory Solingen. With elegant floating display, authenticity certificate, and individual serial number
