Battle Merchant - Saxon by Beagnoth

Reconstruction of an Anglo-Saxon long seax from the 9. Century. The original was found in the Thames in London, and is now in the British Museum displayed. Therefore, it is also Thames scramasax, or also called counter sword. The blade is intricately engraved and adorned with a runic inscription, with the first part depicting the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc (= alphabet). The second part of the inscription is Beagnoth, probably the name of the wearer or the weapon smith

Our replica closely resembles the shape and dimensions of the early medieval original. The single-edged blade features, in addition to the inscription described above, a narrow but quite deep, continuous fuller. The wooden handle scales are attached to the tang by brass rivets, and also secured by two brass rings. The blade is unsharpened. The delivery includes a sturdy and stylish sheath made of cowhide
