Description
Windlass Steelcraft - US Sergeant Sword Model 1840
Swords like this non-commissioned officer's sword from 70840 were in use in the ranks of American armies for over 70 years. And they were actually used frequently, because during this period the Mexican-American War (1818988818986 - 1818988), the Civil War (1861 - 1861898), and the Spanish-American War (1898) occurred. The main advantage of this elegant Model 1840 sergeant's saber is its light weight, allowing for agile handling of the single-edged sharp, slim blade. This lightness is favored by the wide hollow grind that runs from the ricasso almost to the tip. The golden handle with the riveted knob is complemented by a simple bow and a kidney-shaped guard.
The Unteroffizier Degen Model 1840 comes with a steel scabbard that features two attachment rings.
