Description
Hanwei - River Witham Sword
The original sword was discovered during excavations in the River Witham, near Lincoln, East England. It probably dates back to the second half of the 13. century. The blade is made of carbon steel (AISI 1566) and is sharp. "The following inscription is engraved on the blade.": +NDXOXCHMDRCHDXORVI+ translates to +NDXOXCHMDRCHDXORVI+ in English
The blade steel goes all the way through to the end of the handle and is riveted there with the pommel. This sword cannot be called a decorative sword, as it can definitely be used for fencing. The blade, however, is sharp. It is an ideal weapon for re-enactors who want a sword that looks like it did in the past. The sword comes with a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard
