The Hobbit - Sword of Bard the Bowman
Bard the Bowman was the heir of Girion, the last Lord of Dale, and one of the best archers of men. He wielded Girion's old sword and was the keeper of the last Black Arrow of Thal, with which he slew the great dragon Smaug during his attack on Lake-town. Bard then fought alongside the Elves and Men against the armies of Azog at the Battle of the Five Armies. He gathered his troops to lead the main defense against the orcs and trolls in the ruins of the ancient Thal. He bravely wielded his sword in victory over the enemy
The sword of Bard the Bowman has a handle depicting motifs of the ancient Dale. The knob is shaped like two bird heads, and the leather-wrapped handle has a pattern of overlapping, scaled feathers embossed on it. The blade is adorned with engraved grooves and an etched rune
