Böker Plus - Appalachian Axe Big
The Böker Plus Appalachian Axes feature an axe head in Rhineland form made of carbon steel 1095. This choice represents an above-average carbon content and material standard even for high-quality axes. The universally designed blade thickness is equally suitable for felling and splitting. The lower tip (heel) of the 10,7cm long blade can be used as a turning point for pieces of wood. The material is protected from rust by a protective coating. For the heads of both axes, the versatile weight of 600g was chosen. The handles are made of the finest long-fibered American hickory, which is far superior to European ash in terms of breaking elasticity and shock load tolerance. The handles are double wedged with wooden wedge and steel sleeve. The two models Appalachian Big and Appalachian Small differ in the length of the axe handles
With a 48cm long handle made of the finest American hickory wood, this is the longer of the two axes. The longer handle, compared to the smaller axe, leads to a higher striking speed and thus a higher impulse and greater penetration depth into the wood, with the total weight difference being negligible. This axe is the choice for enduring two-handed work. Delivery without leather sheath
