The laido sport deals with the art of sword drawing and predefined attack techniques (Katas), but as a formal exercise. In most cases, the Iaito, an unsharpened practice sword, is used. The development of the unity of body, mind, and sword (Ki-Ken-Tai-Ichi) is the focus. The highest level of mastery is achieved when one can control any combat situation without even drawing the sword. The dull blades are made of hardened, stainless 420 steel. This allows for a realistic training experience on the one hand and, on the other hand, comes with an easy-to-care-for blade
